The dark is coming—and your body already knows.
Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the light is changing. You may feel yourself slowing, withdrawing or beginning to dread the months ahead. Or perhaps you move faster, fill every opening and try to outrun the darkness before it catches you.
How your body responds matters.
But the relationship you build with that response is what matters more.
We have been over-cultured for consistency.
Women are expected to maintain the same energy, pace and output through every hormonal, emotional and seasonal shift.
In a culture organized around avoidance and relentless forward movement, the Dark Goddess has been left behind.
Darkness can become coupled in the nervous system with loneliness, shame, heaviness, collapse or freeze. Rest becomes laziness. Solitude becomes isolation. Slowing down feels like disappearing.
Or we push harder, overriding the body before we have even heard what she is asking for.
These couplings are not fixed.
Together, we will cross the threshold differently.
Through embodied teaching, slow somatic inquiry and practical tools, you will begin to recognize your patterns of withdrawal or overdrive, understand what your female nervous system may be communicating and uncouple darkness from the survival responses it has come to represent.
You will explore the difference between:
Solitude and loneliness.
Regeneration and collapse.
Intentional rest and stagnation.
Doing less and disappearing.
You will leave with a clearer map of how the season affects your particular body—and internal, relational and sensory resources to carry into the months ahead.
The deepest transformation is a new relationship.
A movement from unconsciously reacting to the season to meeting it awake, prepared and in relationship with your body.
This is not about forcing yourself to love winter or romanticizing depression.
It is about cultivating what else may become possible in the dark: deeper rest, creative expression, simplicity, passion, desire, reverence, power—and even joy.
The feminine has always understood that so much of life’s richest growth begins in the dark.
Seeds break open there.
Roots deepen there.
What will eventually reach toward the light is first formed in the unseen.
My somatic relationship with darkness has profoundly changed my life over the past 15 years.
I look forward to welcoming you into this slow, deep process of inquiry—and perhaps reigniting something ancient within you that remembers how to receive the dark.
